Troubleshooting
1.I need to prepare those tools to assemble my FPV drone?
Wire Cutters, Soldering Iron, Hex Screwdriver Set, Prop Nut Tools, Smoke Stopper, Multimeter, Bench Power Supply. These are the recommended and must-have tools for building and repairing your FPV drone.
Wire Cutters: I use wire cutters for cutting zip ties, electrical wires, Silicone leather, basically for things that are too hard for scissors.
Multimeter: A digital multimeter (DDM) is used to troubleshoot your FC and ESC, measuring voltage, current, resistance, and test for short circuit. A multimeter is a small investment that can potentially save you hundreds of dollars in damaged electrical parts by testing circuits before plugging them in. A cheap multimeter will be fine for the purposes of testing for shorts, finding broken wires and checking battery voltage.
Smoke Stopper: Testing device that you connect between the FPV drone and LiPo battery. You use it when you plug in the battery for the first time to see if the drone has a short circuit, which could potentially damage your components without a smoke stopper.
Please note that if frequent use, please replace it regularly.
Hex Screwdriver Set: Commonly used to hold your FPV drone together commonly used is the M1.5, M2 and M2.5 header. A hard screwdriver will make your installation more relaxed and smooth. The electric screwdriver is also a very good choice.
Prop Nut Tools: For removing and securing propeller nuts, Iād recommend getting a tool thatās designed specifically for FPV which are easier to use. You usually need it to installing the propellers with the stack.
Bench Power Supply: It has variable voltage output that can power, your soldering iron, test your drone, FPV components, LiPo charger and so on.I suggest you better buy a maximum current at 10A maximum voltage of 32V, power at 230W.
Soldering Iron: Please buy a high power temperature control Soldering iron with a frame, the melting point of the tin wire is about 370ā, your Soldering iron must exceed the higher the melting point of the tin wire you weld the more convenient, the frame and temperature control can ensure your safe use of the Soldering iron even if you forget to turn off the power Soldering iron will not be damaged because of high temperature.
2.How do I fix the equipment on the FPV drone?
You can probably get 70% of the jobs done using 2-3 types of tapes.
Solder Wires, Solder Flux, metal screws, bolts, Zip Ties, Electrical Tap, Double-sided Tape and Heat-shrink Tubes.
Electrical Tape: Electrical tape is a must-have whenever working with electrical stuff. I only use 3M, itās stretchy vinyl and pretty flexible, wrapping motor wires on the drone arms.
Zip Ties: This is a solid and reliable fixed material that ensures that your VTX, the receiver is firmly attached and the drone rack together, and is very convenient for repair and replacement.
Solder Wires: The joint bright low melting point is the characteristics of a good tin wire, recommended to buy 0.2 and 05mm solder wire to welding different sizes of FPV drones, wire components of a certain amount of lead in use please pay attention to ventilation and appropriate protection, if you in assembling some large FPV drones I recommend you use contains certain silver wire although the price will be expensive but melting point will be high even through a large current will not have melting risk.
Solder Flux: Makes soldering easier and Improves soldering quality.
Double-sided Tape: It is usually used together with the Zip Ties to fix the receiver and VTX, to ensure that the unique nature of the material of the tape can greatly buffer the damage due to the equipment caused by the impact.
Metal Screws and Bolts: When picking up metal screws and bolts, beware of what material they are made of. My preference is to get 10-9 or 12-9 whenever possible. These numbers refer to the alloy of steel used in the screws. Those are the good stuff, they donāt strip out easily and very strong.
Heat-shrink Tubes: Get various sizes for different applications, You can use it on the shell of the motor silicone wire, the external capacitive pin, the electric power cord, the receiver, the image transmission antenna, and the battery, which will fit close to the surface of the equipment when heated.
